What do I need to go to Italy?

I'm going to Italy next year, I'm a US citizen, what do I need in order to go?

You need a passport. If you are staying in Italy for more than 90 days you need a visa. If you are going to live here then you need a souger permit. Besides that just yourself and clothes and what ever personal stuff you need to bring.

A bullet-proof vest in case the mafia tries to kill you.  Also, bring mouthwash, soap, and deodorant. Italians have the worst breath and bodily odors cause of all the garlic they eat and because they rarely bathe. If you don't use the toiletries yourself, give them to some smelly Italians as gifts.

Hello,

First you will need a passport.  You won't make it onto the plane without it.  If you are staying longer than 90 days a visa is also needed.  As far as money, about 200 a day will cover all your needs including hotel, food, snacks, travel, entrance fees and some small souvenirs.  You will need maps of the cities you plan to visit.  You will need a camera, clothing, toiletries and personal items.  

If you want to plan ahead you could make hotel reservations (venere.com) as well as tour reservations.  You could also check out your travel reservations if you are taking the train anywhere by going to trenitalia.com. Other than that, just the normal travel stuff.
