What do I need to know about Japanese customs?

i am going on a trip to japan and i am staying at someone's house...i am wondering if anyone could help me understand some of the Japanese customs regarding politeness etc.

i don't want to make a fool of myself.....

    Others are,

    Take off your shoes at house

    Do not use cell phone on a bus or train.

    Let passengers exit first then you are riding bus or train.

    Do not shake hands so often.

    Do not tip.

    Do not kiss or hug in public.

    Bow if you can (But you need to know when you should).

  3. Well, one thing is.

    Do take off your shoes either outside of the house, or as soon as you get in. The same is with Hawaii because the Japanese, when they came here to work as plantation workers, showed everybody else this, and now in Hawaii, if you walk with your shoes inside the house, it's considered rude and impolite.
