What do I need to know before starting a koi pond?

Everywhere I go seems to be more for people who are already fish gurus and not for people who have never owned a pond before.

I understand the pond heaters and thats about it lol

what you need in a koi pond is good filter, good water condition, and space to swim around thats it and the pond is deep enough.

Make sure it's deep, birds love koi. It's like caviar to them.

please research this project throughly and buy several books about pond building and keeping, you'll save yourself lots of money and headaches

Nothing really. Koi fish aren't needy fish, they can go without food for days. I didn't know anything about them when I got mine. But don't get huge groups, 2 is enough, unless you have a huge pond.
