Question:

What do I need to know when switching from a TH350 to a TH400 Transmission?

84 Chevy: I know i will need a kickdown switch installed and that the driveshaft may not fit anymore. Is there anything else that will be different?? Also what will I have to do to make the driveshaft fit the TH400?

  1. the cross member won't fit either,look at the trans.mount on the 350&400 ,you may be able to move the crossmember back,i think there is several slots in the frame for this,you will also have to change the flywheel,they aren't the same,the torque converter is also different.then there is always the shift linkage to change out.then you will have to adj. you emergcy brake cable since it is located on the crossmember. oh ya,make sure your exaust will line back up,after moving the crossmember.been there donit.....
