Closest neighbor has an 805 foot deep well and only gets 1/2 gallon per minute. I don't want to end up in this situation. Did they not put in a large enough pump ? What things would cause this situation?

  1. It's kind of like a lottery when you drill a well. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. The guys who drilled mine said they simply can't predict what will happen with any certainty, though if they work a lot in one neighbourhood they do kind of get a feel for where they should drill. The amount of water that comes out of the ground doesn't have anything to do with the pump you install. If it flows out of the ground at 2gpm, you can't pump more than that out, at least not for long.  My neighbour got water at 50 feet, they didn't hit water till 80 feet at my place, and had to go to 100 to get good flow. Her well is a few hundred feet from mine.  Just make sure you hire a drilling company that has a good reputation. If you get less flow than you'd like, you might think about putting in a storage tank so you don't run out of water if you use a lot one day. Am I ever glad I don't live where you do. I hate to think what a well 800 feet deep would cost.

  2. MAKE SURE THEY HAVE PERMITS  AND SHOP AROUND SEE IF WHO EVER STANDS BY THE WARRENTY..
