Hi,

Me and my friend is looking to open a used car dealership in California since we both are into car and know a lot about cars. Is it hard to open a small dealership or can we sell car from our own garage? We are looking to just buy few used car and sell them and then buy more later, so we are not looking to buy a lot at once.

Can this be done?

Please give me some advise,

Thanks

  1. Start by getting a Vehicle Salesperson License.

  2. Just give 5 seconds glance on each of these website urls

  3. A license.  Commercial property in a properly zoned area, with at minimum an office.  Lots of insurance.  A tax number to collect sales tax.  Temporary plates (dealer ID number), and the list goes on.  Last thing on the list is a LOT of cash to keep running until you finally get established and start showing a profit.
