I am a US Citizen (Korean-American) and she is a Korean citizen. We met in Korea, came to the US together (her through a student visa), and have been living together for about four months now in California. We are planning on getting married in the future but have no idea how to go about it. Can someone help me out or direct me to the proper website w/ the information. Thanks!

  2. Best advice:

    See a lawyer.

See a lawyer and get real legal advice.

    Money well spent.

  3. once you go to the city and get married you just need to apply for her permit, and since you are a citizen it only takes up to 90 days for you to receive it.

  4. Just get married.

She's legally in the US on her F-1 visa.  You will petition her and she'll adjust her status at the same time.

    After the wedding...

You file I-130, I-864 and G-325A with the USCIS.

She files I-485, I-131, I-765 and G-325A with the USCIS.

You file them all at the same time, in the same envelope.  The total cost to file is $1,365.

In about 90 days she'll get a work permit.

In about 6 months she'll have her interview.

In about a year she'll get her green card.

You can find the forms here...
