I'm a 7th grade special education teacher. I'm tired of my students being treated poorly because they have learning disabilities. I would like my students to feel like V.I.P.s. I want to decorate my classroom with a V.I.P. theme, and am having trouble coming up with ideas for what to put in the room. I have to remember that I am a teacher on a teacher's budget. Cheaper is better. Thanks for your help.

  1. you should ask them for their opinions, it will be fun if everyone participate.  get some ribbons, color papers, and some crayons. kids enjoy decorating things.

another thought is to have each one of them (randomly pick) to draw a picture of another classmate, and post all of them onto the wall.

  2. That's a great Idea good for you !!

Hit up your local thrift store , an look around . Nothing comes to Mind right now  , But I bet once your out looking idea will start to pop up !

  3. What a beautiful thought! I think maybe you could make the classroom all about them. Maybe give each of them a space that is just theirs and tell them they can do what they want with it as long as it stays within certain limits (all schools have rules...). Allow them to bring in certain things that represent them. Nothing makes a kid feel more important than telling them that are incredible just because they are who they are.

Another thing you can do is make a collage of the students, have a monthly birthday party (bring cupcakes or a cake that you make at home...or if you have parents volunteer, ask one of them to bring in something for a monthly party). If a kid's birthday isn't during the school year, start the year out celebrating their birthdays, or end it with theirs.

These are just a few of my thoughts.

    Good Luck!
