What do I need to study to become a translator or a Journalist?

I'm going to Wichita State University, so what Major should I study to become a Translator or a Journalist (Or Both)?

And what prophit there is?

  1. To become a translator you need to have high proficiency in languages, so major in the language you're interested in eg. Japanese studies. For journalism you have many choices, such as social sciences to understand how people work, or English, English Literature, international relations, social science, mass communications etc.


  2. Make sure you study the culture of the languages that you will be learning.  If you know nothing about the culture, essentially you dont know anything about the language.  Its so important to understand this, because then youll understand they're customs and stuff like that, and also youll get a better perspective for when you translate because youll know the "real'' meaning behind the phrases
