  1. You need to take a determination that today you are looking for a mortgage and NOT to buy insurance.

I guarantee that they will give you the hard sell for insurance. Tell them today is mortgage day, you will arrange insurance when you have had an opportunity to shop around.

That's all you need to take. They already have all your details.

  2. take details of your finances. other than that nothing.

Remember don't just take the first deal, look around and get yourself the best possible offer

  3. Barclays only offer WOOLWICH mortgages. As you are aware, there are many more lenders in the UK, some are small building societies who have very good rates. Trying researching the market and see what is on offer. You should take in to account the cost of moving a mortgage to a new lender (valuation and solicitor fees approximately £600). In most cases, the new deal will still be cheaper.

You do not have to take anything with you (apart from your mortgage account number) to review your mortgage. First find out what deals are available, when you are happy to go ahead, they will ask for proof of income (payslips etc)

  4. It would be best to phone your bank and make sure what they require from you in case you don't have enough info for their records.

  5. Since your fixed mortgage rate with Barclays is running out. All you need to do is to tell them officially in writing or call on them to inform them whether you still prefer the fixed rate or a variable rate mortgage.

  6. To be honest they should have all your information to hand. But take your latest mortgage statement if you wish. But if they didnt have all your info to hand before your meeting, i'd question their proffesionalism.
