Question:

What do I need to think about when moving interstate?

My fiance and I will be moving interstate in 3 weeks time, due to him getting a job transfer.

What factors do we need to take into account when planning the move?

We don't have a lot of stuff, so we will be moving ourselves, not hiring a moving service.

  1. Change your driving licence to the new State one. Here in QLD you must advise all address changes within 14 days, so take that into account with your own State.

Change your car registration also to the new State.

Tell everyone, banks, medicare, etc,  about the new address.

  2. Your first concern is to pick some place to move to.  If you're going to be moving interstate, it's best not to select a place within your own state.  Best of luck!
