Question:

What do I pack for horse camp?

I'm going to horse camp in a week and need to know what to pack. I've gone before, but I always feel like I'm forgetting something! Here are some notes about it:

-I am not taking a horse, so I don't have to have feed, bedding, horse supplies and tack, grooming supplies, etc.

-I am a western rider; no need to say breeches.

-It will be only for a week.

-It is during summer but I don't know how warm it will be...

-Yes, it IS overnight! :)

Thanks!!

  2. Hey,

im 17 and ive been going to camp since i was really young.

major things you need to bring,

start off with how your getting the things there, preferably i got a little storage bin..like this (http://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-Storage-...

its really roomy, and ive foudn i can fit everything i need in there for up to 3 weeks of camp!

    first off the clothes

shorts, pants, tshirts, tanktops, pjs, underwear, SOCKS . the normal things youd wear at home.

for riding make sure you bring riding boots *make sure your camp doesnt have a specific type of boot you need (1/2. 3/4)*, extra pants, your riding helmet anything else youll need for riding

    for shoes,

bring flip flops for the shower

    sneakers

maybe a pair of boots for rain days etc.

and if you have them, bring crocs. they are comfortable, and you can wear them just about anywhere

toiletries, deodorant, pads/tampons, toothbrush/toothpaste, hair brush, elastics, anything for your hair that you need.

also bring a small handheld mirror, becuase chances are your going to need it. also, bring a package of those neutrogena face cloths that clean your face, hand sanitizer, and if you wear makeup bring makeup remover cloths because i doubt camp water is very clean so i wouldnt wash your face in it.

for showers, id bring a small separate bag and put razors, backup blades, soap, facecloth, shampoo/conditioner and whatever else you use for showers.

also some camps dont alllow electronics, so if thtas the case, make sure you bring some books or whatever will keep you entertained.

and also, get your friends/families adresses and some stationary and stamps so you can write to them!.

for your bunk, bring 1 or 2 pairs of sheets, a sleeping bag, one or two pillows, and maybe a comforter, to make you feel more at home

also i recomend one of those pop out hampers! they really come in handy

also dont forget the essentials bug spray, towels, bathing suits, and sun screen!

hope you have a good time at camp!

  4. Take anything that you can't live without for the week.  Camp will have the normal stuff if you forget your toothbrush or something.  I'd take my mom's phone number...

    EM

  5. You should call the camp or email them if possible. All camps are different, and only they will be able to tell you exactly all the things you will be required to bring.

If you call them, make sure you write down everything they tell you to bring. If you are unsure, ask them questions, only they will be able to tell you for sure.

Here is a list of things you definitely should bring:

    - shorts or jeans for when you're not riding [you should bring a few pairs just for riding and wearing around the barn]

    - riding boots

    - regular boots you can get dirty in the barn for when your not riding

    - everyday clothes/outfits [a week's change of clothes....i always tend to over pack though, just in case! :) ]

    - all the necessities you need for hygiene, and sunscreen, etc.

*NOTE: Take the things you use on an everyday basis.

Have fun at camp and don't forget to contact the camp to double-check that you have everything you need! I'd also check the weather so you can be prepared! :)

  11. ummm it depends on the camp!

    good luck!

  12. Most camps will have a list you can print out that says what you will need- it can vary. Here are the basics though:

-Clothes- pack clothes for warm weather plus plenty of pairs of jeans and some sweatshirts if it gets cold.

-Riding helmet- they may provide these but I'd pack yours just in case.

-Bathing suit- if you will be going swimming, which you probably will.

    -Toiletries

-Footwear- good walking shoes, riding boots, and flip flops (for showering and by the pool).

    -Bedding

    -Laundry bag

-Paper, envelopes, stamps and a pen for writing to friends and family.

-Flashlight and book light if you want one.

    -Books or magazines

    -Bug spray

    -Sunscreen

    - iPod or mp3 player if they are allowed, helpful to fall asleep to or if you just need to relax.

Again, these are the basics, you may need more or you might not need all of it... I probably forgot something, I'll add more if I think of something. Have fun at camp!

  13. lots of sunblock, boots, jeans, shorts,a rain jacket,t shirts you can get dirty, a notebook, alarm clock, backpack, envolopes, pen/pencil, good book, horse treats (not fruits or veggies they will rot) a factual horse riding guide, HELMET!!!!!!, halter, fly spray and grooming supplies if you have them( dont go and buy a bunch of horse equipment if you dont have it already),board games/ things to do, swimmsuit just in case, blankets,sheets,pillow,shampoo/condition... shower gel, soap, and anything else you want to. and for memories a camera! (you could possibly bring a friend! they would have to pay for it though) PS money. have fun at camp

  14. Well you should bring your riding pants as you said. bring your gear- boots (if you use them gloves and helmet). also for down time bring shorts and t-shirts and flip flops and tennis shoes. dont forget pajamas and any other neccesities. just dont think that all you do is sit in a saddle 24/7.
