What do I say, in case some of the guys snitch on me?

Okay. So a friend and I noticed these guys cheating in the corner of the classroom in Prealgebra class. My friend got an idea and asked one of the guys to give her a copy of the exam. We weren't taking the exam. They were. We had a choice to take the exam early or to take it at the scheduled date. So they took theirs early while we settled for the practice exam.

She xeroxed the paper and handed one to me. Now, I may have been tempted to cheat, but when I got home, I tore the paper and studied! What do I do in case those guys snitch on us?!? I mean, sure, I was tempted to cheat, but when I got home, I opted to study!!!

Would that help to exonerate me or am I still in hot water?!?

I mean, come on! I opted to do the right thing! Right?!?

These guys don't like us, so I have a sinking feeling they're gonna snitch on us!!!

Unless they get caught themselves, chances are that these guys are not going to snitch on you guys.  That being said, I think you should turn these guys in.  Explain the situation to your teacher and let him or her know what happened.  Trust me, you'll feel better about it in the long run.

This may not fit what exactley what you wish...but why not be honest?

Normally that works.  And if you took the answers you better prepare for punishment.

I think the only way to prove it is to compare the steps you took to get the answer. If you showed all of your work and got the answer a different way than the one your copied did then it shows that you still did the problem. You would still probably get in trouble because you could have just look at the questions and had someone do or help with the answers. Tell the truth and hope for the best. You had the option of not taking the paper, and you could even get in trouble by not snitching on them. You took the risk and now you may just have to suck it up and deal with the consequences. Remeber what you are feeling next time you are tempted to cheat.
