Question:

What do I say when I resign?

I work in an over staffed office. There is literally nothing for me to do-I have to come up with ways to make myself look busy. Maybe it's a dream job for some, but I decided I'd better look for another position before I get the axe!

My question is, should I tell my employer that this is the reason I'm leaving? I was thinking I would just say I need more flexibility in my working hours, since I am going back to college (which is 100% true); I'm afraid if I say I'm underutilized it will make my last 2 weeks really uncomfortable for everyone. Basically, I'd be telling my supervisor she's a lousy office manager, right?

Any advice?

  1. Just tell your supervisor that you will be going back to school full time and that the position you have wouldn't fit into your class schedule. Tell him/her when will you start school and that you will need a position that will work around your class schedule and that position you have currently isn't it.

  2. In my opinion, there are very good online jobs available. (both part time and full time)  Over the last 4 years I have been working online as a virtual customer service rep for a credit card company. It’s honestly a very easy job---I mainly answer e-mails, add features and address general inquiries.

If I can give one piece of advice though when looking for an online job---NEVER pay a start up fee to join a work at home company or directory. Very few legitimate companies will require you to pay them in order for them in turn to pay you. It defeats the point! Moreover, there are plenty of free sites available! :)

Depending on your skill set---there is a huge range in employment opportunities you might be interested in, both part time or full time—anywhere from data entry and transcription services---to rebate processing---to virtual customer care---to Writing articles/Product reviews to webpage design.

For a list of very good companies and directories that I’ve been successful with and also a guide to avoiding online business scams see:

    and also:

(The companies listed should not charge any start up fees nor hidden fees down the road)

I also make good extra money answering paid surveys. I’ll usually spend a couple of hours a day answering surveys and l make approx $50 a day = $1000-$1500 a month. For the most profitable free sites see:

  3. Tell her. Maybe next time she´ll do a better job as manager. I also had a lousy job, where I didn´t do anything. At first I thought it was great. But as time passes, your mind begins to get numb. I actually watched entire TV series in my old job. Fortunately, it only lasted 7 months because a got a better one, where I actually work! If you do nothing, you become a less interesting person, and you get dumb. Been there, done that.
