My daughter's science project in school is the apollo moon landing. We have model ships, astronauts and stuff, but what con-coction can we mix to make the surface of the moon on a flat cardboard box?It would have to be gray,I guess.

  1. you could use paper-machay and form it into crater shapes, attaching it to the box

  2. I'd just go with plaster, and mold it into craters of various sizes.  Then paint it gray.

  3. For some additional info, moondust is fine gray and has a gunpowder-like smell.

  4. Like the other guys said, use paper  machay and then just use some dirt/little rocks of some sort and glue them onto it to show that it has a rough surface and is gravelly.  hope this helps.
