I am preparing to wax it with a brown bees wax. Its made of a light brown (what appears to be birch) and the doors in a dark red probably rose wood. But I've never seriously attempted to clean it. I have only on rare occasion wiped it down with a damp cloth. Now I want to restore it to its original splender

Question: what's best stuff to use clean it with before applying my beeswax?.

  1. When you older furniture gets dirty it takes a bit of extra care, but remember its also better built than most furniture done today.. It has withstood a lot of wear and tear already and can take a bit more..   to keep it nice for future generations.

"If build up  of wax or dust does occur, simply wash off with hot water and pure soap or use one of the furniture cleaners manufactured by most of the better brand furniture polish manufacturers."

(and does add this for the other answerer. Antique dealers and afficionado's do visit the internet and are just as able to be trusted online as they are offline.)
