I am in a rental apartment that is about 35 years old and I have small square ceramic tiles on the floor of the bathroom. They are very dull looking and I would like to make it look better. I use vinegar and water to clean it.

  1. Try the cleaner, but if the tiles have lost their top layer, there's no way to replace that.  They are worn down.  I assume you can put an acrylic

coat over the top, but it will wear off quickly too.  Just as bathtubs lose their shine due to scouring over the years, so too can tiles.

Talk to a tile store, they may have something for you.

  2. Try your local hardware store ask for ceramic tile cleaner. Sometimes you have to use it a few times to get the look you want. Also to get the industrial strength cleaner try you local janitorial supply cleaning company.
