I am a female and have no idea what to wear. I have a few interviews and they all want me to wear business professional. I don't want to get it confused with business casual.

  1. You wear conservative subdued clothing.  A pencil skirt, just to the knee, low pumps, hose, a tucked in blouse (nothing sleeveless.) a cardigan sweater or jacket..  blue is a great color to interview in, it says "trustworthy">

  2. Skip the hose - we came out of the 80's, everyone knows your legs are that color naturally or ashy like that.

Wear a well tailored suit.  Dont wear a short sleeved suit, they scream "cheeseball".  Depending on the organization; if conservative (law firm, insurance co., extremely corp org.)go for dark muted colored suits, if high energy (marketing, entertainment, etc) select a suit in a lighter hue.

Minimal jewelry, natural makeup, short nails (even if you can type 900wpm they wont perceive that with dragon claws).

Most importantly dress for your part of the country; west coast has more flexibility, east coast put on your best 45 piece suit (okay 2 piece).

  3. Business casual would be considered khakis and a sweater.  Business professional means dress pants with a button down shirt and jacket. Never pair brown and black together either for accessories or clothing.

  4. Business casual is just that-casual. Dress pants and a sweater or top. Business professional you wear your best power suit.
