An article from the Dever Post (on Wed 6-18) called Dale Jr America's next role model!! Here' s a little of what it said........

"Junior is a fabulous NASCAR role model — just like his dad, who has adapted to the times. Dale Sr. was a Southern legend, but the well-spoken and considerate Junior has the ability to become an All-American legend. "I felt really fortunate to have what I had. . . . As much as I wanted to win, I couldn't get away from just feeling really fortunate and feeling really lucky," Junior said. "Man, I've got a great team. Look at my cars. They are so awesome, and look how well they are built. And look at my guys, they are so dedicated and everybody believes. I just feel so lucky."

I thought this was kind of cool and I like Jr's response I also like the way his is always so humble about everything and he is just happy to be able to be doing the thing he loves most!! I think it is great!!

What is your opinions?

***PLEASE NO BASHING *****

  1. I am not what you would call a Jr. fan. but sure he can be a role model, especially to children who lost a parent. Even though he didnt lose a parent when he was a kid, he is still a testament of how to overcome the loss of a parent.

The only thing I disagree with, and please do not consider this bashing, is that the Denver post called him "well spoken". Actually, I do not think he is that well spoken at all. But I do not think that has anything to do with being a role model.

He keeps his nose clean, he stays out of trouble, he is an excellent businessman, so sure, he can definetely be one of this nation's next role models.  I dont even know why they put the word "next" there. I am sure he already is a role model for thousands of people.

  2. Thank you for posting this. I met Dale once here intown. Way before he was in sprint cup. It was his early years in Busch. He had made a public appearance at Thunder Valley. A Go cart track here in town. I knew then, just as we all can see and hear now that Dale is a very modest and humble person. That is why I am a fan and why so many others are. It is also why he is voted most popular driver every year.

  3. Ok, no offense, but outside the track he is lazy and partys all the time. Hardly the role model. He has trouble speaking the english language even. There are so many more drivers that would be better like Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson.

I watched a youtube video of his in car camer the other day and one of his crew members broke his hand and dale JR was yelling at them over the radio saying

'what are you guys doing, but-f***ing' and the crew chief said 'No we got a crew member over here with a broke hand right now', and Dale JR said 'well tell him to walk it off'

    Quite the role model.

  4. Initially I didn't care for Jr much, because of all the hype and number of fans he has.  After watching his interviews the last couple of years I have seen that I was wrong about him, he is a humble man, just like you say.  I like how "real" he always appears, he doesn't put on any big fronts and try to overwhelm anyone with his vocabulary, he just tells it like it is.  He has converted me to being a fan of his even though he isn't my favorite.  After all the bashing I'm sure it's good for Jr fans to hear things like that being said about him.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  5. It's good to hear jr pump up his team.

Some of my friends really came down on jr when he bashed his team last year.

It's a team sport. You win together - you lose together.

  6. Amen, he is a great humble guy, and a cool person. Even with all the money he has made it has not gone to his head, he has not become arrogant like some people with tons of money and success.. He is dedicated, and he loves his fans. He is one great guy, yes he does have a great team, and great cars now.. I just would like to say one thing to the bashers and haters on here, if you actually got to meet him and sit down and talk with him, you'd change your opinion of him. I'm lucky I've met him before and have worked some charity events with him, this is one great guy.  I got to meet Brad his Nationwide driver out here at the Fontana race last Sept, he is a lot like Dale Jr also, if he keeps it up and follows Dale Jr's advice and footsteps, this kid will be great also.. I read that article also it was great, yes 100% Dale Jr has the ability to become a All-American Legend, heck he's almost there now....

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  7. I honestly think they are right.  He is always thankful to his crew, never blames--cares about them.

In addition, he is not cocky at all, does not run his mouth unless he has something important to say.

In addition, he cares about his fans and his friends.

He also lets things go which is hard sometimes to do on the track.

....and I think he's cute..like has that rough looking, quiet but real nice guy look...

  8. Finally we know why he has the fan following that he does. It is not because of Sr's. death.( the sympathy critics) It is because he is believable.

A role model? With all the c**p out there today, how could he not be.

  9. Hey Jr is a class act

  10. Jr is a good guy. Real, a little mushmouthed sometimes but concise corporate clarity isn't my style either. He isn't perfect, but none of my role models growing up were either. They just didn't have grills, talk in gang jargon, grope same s*x people in public and shoot other drug dealers for sport, like some of the socalled role models today.

  11. He is such a humble and honorable guy, he never forgets where his family started.  I Love that.

I saw that interview too #48jj fan.

He said "A driver has 2 options when they get a win.  They can take the humble, grateful and yet competitive road OR they can take the cocky & arrogant one.  I am proud of Brad for choosing to taking the higher road"  -Dale Jr.

  12. You know I have nothing against the guy but for gods sake "Well Spoken?"

But good for JR..  Money and accomplishments don't make the man.  It's all those kids that look up to the guy for representing the sport.like a gentleman.

And for selling 55 million beer coozies....lol    J/K

  13. *sigh*

I had to think about this one for a minute, and come back to it.

I'm not going to bash him, I've never had anything against him, it's just well.....I feel sorry for the guy.

No one can be as perfect as his fans have made him out to be.

Not intending to bash on his fans, either, because I know what that feels like.

But some of you make him sound as though he's some holier than thou, entity that can all but walk on water. To live up to those expectations, man...

To be honest with you, it's one of the main reasons I'm not his fan, no one can be as perfect as he portrays himself, no one!

So everytime I hear things said about him, "he's a great role model" "he's a class act all the way" the list goes on and on.

In the back of my mind, I hesitate to believe it.

He has to have SOME flaw, I've yet to hear any of his fans name one. It's sad. Like those people in the Stepford movie, he's TOO perfect! It kinda freaks me out a little.

And I wouldn't really want my kids looking up to someone that has to try and hide or mask their imperfections.

I'm just being honest with my opinion, I've heard all of your guys' reasons on why you could never be a fan of Kyle's, it's my turn.

  14. Jr. was asked last week about how he felt about his Nationwide team, or more importantly about Brad Keselowski. ( please excuse me if that isn't spelled right) His reply was something like.....a successful driver has two roads they can take. They can choose to let it go to their head and be cocky or boastful, or they can choose to be humble, grateful, and dedicated. He referred to Brad as fitting under the second option.

He was very well spoken in last week's interview. I have mulled over what he said in my mind many times. He fits that category himself, and quite frankly I have a feeling that any driver who drives for him MUST. I don't think he would settle for anything less.

As for him being a role model. I'm sure if anybody chose him to be their role model, they could do a whole h**l of a lot worse. As much attention and spotlight as he receives, his flaws come off pretty minimal.

  15. I perceive Dale Jr. to be a humble, "real" guy - so I think this is awesome.  Someone who is appreciative of what he has and who he's got backing him on his team and even by us fans.  THAT is the type of guy who I respect.

    Love ya Jr.!!!!!!

  16. He's cool. When things aren't going good for him, he won't tell you anything. But did you see him after the Shootout, Gatorade Duel and Michigan? The guy talked all the way. You've got a humble guy, a talkative guy, a funny guy, and a  somehwat rebelious guy in one convienent pack. He is the perfect driver - not too good, not bad. JUST right.

    GO 88 JR!

  17. Dale Jr. is so humble mostly because he dose not see himself as being that famous. He is a down to earth type of guy.

    Go Dale Jr.  88

  18. I read that same article! One thing about Junior....he always gives credit where credit is due. That has got to make his whole crew feel good. When he messes up he only blames himself. He is a true gentleman. Just because he has a southern accent doesn't mean he can't talk.

    The press and all his sponsors can't be wrong....he is a great role model for NASCAR. He has morals as well as family values. He keeps his image clean no matter how badly some try to tarnish it. Way to go Junior!!  =o~}

I'm ready for the thumbs down now, it doesn't bother me.

Great post RackPurdue! Have a star.

  19. While Jr. may not be my favorite driver, I try not to bash ANY driver.

Jr. is a humble man, as was his dad. He could be, and should be, a great role model.

He stays out of trouble, you never hear any c**p about him in the news. I would much rather have a child look up to Jr. or any driver vs another idiot like Darryl Strawberry.

  20. I too met junior at a go-cart track in pennsylvania when those boys were in town for the pocono race... I didnt get to race on track with him, but I got to meet him this was early in his career (Tony Stewart and I think Kurt Busch were also there) but junior welcomed autographs, and chit chatted with people who were there.  No one knew they were going to show up either... so it was a nice surprise.

But really, junior is down to earth, he hasnt let this all go to his head.  When he has a really good car he always credits his team, and even when he drives a car that isnt a winning car to a top 5, he still credits the team... which is funny that anyone can just hate a driver, when its more than just a driver with junior, junior is JUST the driver... eury and the rest of his crew make up a good part of who dale junior is, so why dont people say "god I hate eury jr"....
