Question:

What do McCain and Palin want to do about Global warming besides just drill for more oil in Alaska?

This is maddening! We've got a war on, New Orleans is flooding (hello - rising ocean levels) and more carbon going in the air than ever before. And any oil they start drilling for now won't hit the market for 10 years and not even make that much of a dent in price at all.

What about focusing on energy that can be used long term and getting off foreign oil?

  1. Global warming is a myth, just like unicorns.

  2. New Orleans is flooding (hello-rising ocean levels)???  Perhaps you could credit rising ocean levels.  You could also credit hurricanes which, based on historical evidence, commonly occur in the Gulf of Mexico.

We've got a war on?  Yes.  I fail to see the connection to global warming.

More carbon going in the air than ever before?  Yes.  That is a fairly predictable situation as the world's population increases.

Any oil...10 years?  True.  However, unless you believe there is an efficient way to convert the world's vehicle operators to alternative energy source vehicles in a shorter time frame, focusing on oil seems to be the best short-term solution.

What about focusing...  There is focus on long-term solutions.  However, long-term solutions, by definition, do not address the short-term.  Regardless of what methods are taken, whomever becomes the next president will not be in office when we begin to see the first effects of any steps taken.  As stated above, focusing on increasing the oil supply is, arguably, the best short-term solution.

Sure, everyone could purchase hybrid/electric vehicles.  However, I'm assuming you are a democrat.  As a representative of the "poor and underserved," how do you propose that the poor and underserved persons find the necessary money to all purchase new vehicles?

I love the fact you fail to offer even one solution to this "maddening" problem.  Perhaps do a bit of research on proposed environmental legislation, carbon trading, carbon offset programs, the Kyoto protocol, etc.

  3. Dude, you are a fool if you think that human-effected global warming really exist.

It's not capitalized, it's an incorrect theory, it's not a religion.

  4. global warming?  i live in alabama and it has not reached 94 degrees this summer when at this time it has reached 105-110.  so yeah, global warming.... crack is whack!

  5. More oil will make oil companies richer and that is what really matters. When will you see the light a republican president only has 4 years 8 if hes lucky to make as much money as he can. We the people should not stand in front of his dream we should let the earth and our troops pay the price for this greed.

I wish I was president so that I could get away with killing and plundering for profit.

  6. Hey genius...McCain believes in man made global warming. That's one of my problems with him.

  7. YES

Drilling holes in Alaska will let off some of the Hot Steamy issues they have in Alaska

  8. I'm not sure Palin even believes in global warming.  She refuses to acknowledge that polar bears are threatened even though more of their habitat melts away each summer.

  9. I gave you a star just for asking about actual issues rather than Palin's daughter or whatever other idiot distractions the republican/democrat partisans can come up with. And I think drilling is about it for now. The republicans are talking about developing alternative energy sources that won't come on line until 2020 or so. I think we Americans can do better than that.

  10. McCain has often discussed Global warming and our energy crisis.

The problem is that you don't want to listen

  11. He's spoken more to the subject than the alternative candidate has. And the it won't hit the market for 10 years analogy is getting old.

  12. it is maddening, look at all this c**p George Bush has done to ruin our great country.

But unfortunately wqe ARE dependent on oil and they need it now, not in 20 years when alternatives are developed.

How about take the 220 mill a day we are spending in Iraq and spend it here in our own country?

and to answer your question, as long as our goverments stays the way it is we will forever be dependdent oin that opil, because they are all getting stinking flithy rich in the process.

  13. the latest news is global warming over, we are headed to a ice age.

  14. Man can't control the sun.  If you mean about alternative energies, why don't you do a little reading?

    http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issu...

  15. Maybe they'll hire Al Gore as their Global Warming Adviser.  After all, he invented Global Warming.  Right after he invented the Internet.

  16. Develop natural gas, use a pipeline to transport it. Wind, solar and nuclear energy.

  17. I'm not really up on Palin's stance yet, but McCain is pushing for development of alternative energies.

  18. You will be able to claim a deduction for suntan lotion on your taxes under their plan. Plus, you get a free bumper sticker. It's pretty win/win.

  19. According to scientist

(i.e. ones that are real and not pretending)

the earth is actually cooling and not warming

    so I guess

    McCain and Palin really shouldn't

concern themselves with the rantings of the enviromental

    extremeist

we'll leave that for Nancy Pelosi

    if it's o k with you

  20. first of all, there are hurricanes every year. second of all, the flares from the sun, or the absence thereof control the present "global warming"

  21. Where is this 10 year number coming from? It doesn't take 10 years to drill for oil.

Secondly, the price of oil dropped as soon as Bush started to push for more drilling and lifted some restrictions.  The oil market is similar in ways to the stock market. The look of the future impacts the prices right now.  The more fear that the oil countries have of us obtaining our own oil, the more they will try to force the prices down to convince us that it isn't economically viable to tap into our own resources.

Thirdly, one of the things a lot of true conservatives hate about McCain is that he is way too heavy on global warming. Back during the primaries he had some trillion dollar plan to prevent global warming. I don't know if he still has that plan or if he's modified it, but you obviously haven't read much about McCain's energy plans or else you'd know about much more than domestic oil drilling.

This is of course all assuming that  humans are really impacting global warming, which I'd say is 99% myth.

  22. How much of a dent would "combating global warming" make?  When?

It is laughable to hear the argument "drilling takes too long, we need to build an entire renewable energy infrastructure to save time."

The money spent on anti-global warming programs would be an incredible waste.

  23. Palin believes the lord will replenish the ozone...

  24. They want to do exactly what  Bush is doing:  NOTHING.

  25. global warming is a myth.

  26. How long will it take to get the alternative fuels up and running.? Bio fuels such as ethanol are costing us out the rear right now. How long will it take to produce alternatives to lubricate the engines and motors of our vehicles and the machinery we use in the US without that oil? How long before you can create alternative fuels to lower the burden on the gas consumer who needs it right now. You say forget drilling, I say drill drill drill and to also invest in alternative energies that are truly feasible.
