What do Trey Parker and Matt Stone have against Bono?

No trying to get into a socio-political argument, but in their latest "South Park" episode, they indirectly refer to him as the biggest piece of c**p in the world. Making fun of someone who makes an attempt to help people- no matter how misguided that attempt may be, even though he's exceedingly wealthy and famous and wouldn't be expected to do so, is pretty crappy. Bono does a lot more than go to Africa and sing and look at people. Yes, he's self-righteous, but he's trying to do the right thing. I don't care if he proclaims himself the Messiah. If one word he says has persuaded anyone to even think about the issues he's addressing, then he's right. Next time Matt and Trey lobby President Bush they should let me know, because until then to me they're being petty d**k-weeds.

  1. Seems like you may be jealous of Bono being the biggest poc and making your own run.

But if you really want to know, there is a reason SP rips hypocrite celebrities like Al Gore, Rob Reiner, and Bono.  Jumping on the latest cause of the day bandwagon and pretending you know something about it  is, well, c**p.

We could debate whether oversimplifying complex issues through the mindless appeal of celebrity is on balance good or bad, but either way satirizing self-important buffoons is a lot of fun.

  2. I'm sorry, could you provide a list of the hundreds of celebritys that have been referenced on Southpark and indicate which ones are ok and which are not.

My personal favorite was Isner in the anti-smoking campaign. I laughed my azz off. If you do the right thing for the wrong reasons are we supposed to let you go on without comment. What if you do the right thing but have really bad hair.... can we make fun of that? Seriously, your asking for decency and decorum from Southpark......... that's not smart.

  3. So does this mean you're okay with what they did to Mel Gibson?

  4. d**k-weeds are part of the fabric of our fine nation

  5. You're too serious.  Lighten up.

  6. Matt & Trey constantly make fun of people...doesnt matter who they are. they even make fun of themselves if you really look into the episodes. they do it to get money & make people laugh.

i seriously doubt that they have anything really against any of the celebrities that they make fun of. think of it as a celebrity roast.

  7. Oh get over yourself!  Trey and Matt make fun of everyone, and they do it well!  I bet Bono gets a hearty laugh at it.  Being made fun of by them is a great honor!

  8. I don't care, the episode was hilarious!!!

  9. Bono is a pompous, self important, t**ser, who deserves all the abuse he gets.

  10. Have you ever seen Team America, World Police? That would probably make you curl into a fetal position.

These guys try to expose the out of touch celebrities for what they are...a bunch of people that want all of us to help their "cause of the month" with our hard earned money, but I would bet those people never whip out their own checkbooks. It's far easier to sit in a tree, or play a concert.
