What do US Citizens imagine Germany to be like?

Question

My purpose for asking this question is, because I grew up knowing little about Europe in history class. Explain your answers please. Try to keep it intelligent and classy not silly and stupid. I would also appreciate input or thoughts about what you picture other nations to be like such as Mexico or China, perhaps France.

I imagine it to be a really clean place as I've heard. In my head, I see the Brandenburg Gate, the Potsdamer Platz, Rammstein, Formula 1, Cologne Cathedral, and who could forget OKTOBERFEST!! =D

Germany would be delicious. My grandpa immigrated over when he was 11, and brought over some great recipes....... :d

and btw Debora, not all cities are scummy, just in the highly populated areas like all places get around the world.

And btw the x, beemers come from germany....many well made cars come from germany.....and watches too.

I imagine Germany has a lot of white people? I've never been there. The building structure/styles are different from ours. They speak German. Yeah.

I know this is gonna sound stupid and ignorant....but when I think of Africa, Mexico, Baghdad, Afghanistan, and such, I think the people live in adobe houses, huts, sleep on dirt, and have no computers. I know they have computers, beds, houses, and stuff...but I don't know why "ancient civilization/tribe" comes to mind instead.

Germany? The black forest..children wearing them Bavarian green uniforms, buildings that look like guilds, men with funny "mustaches, beer( better than US at least), BMW, camps.

Mexico I would feel a little unsafe there, China would be interesting though. France I'm a little bit indifferent about visiting. Just my view.

a very wonderful place where people are free what they want to do. and they have the best transportation, so no car needed and they have wonderful history, and they have been through hard times and that just makes them work toward a good germany. and they succeeded i think, cause its a clean place to live. tho i am gonna be real and say that there are people who are suffering in the way that they are on welfare and they cant improve their lives because of the government. maybe i am not imagining cause i see a lot of german news so i hear what is happening over there and i've met germans.

Yeah i know BMWs come from germany i think the whole world knows it but i am just saying there is no car needed because of the transport they have there.

I had the pleasure of visiting Germany so I can't comment on the imagine thing.  

I do know they probably have NO idea how nasty , dusty, and crime ridden our cities are in the good old USA.
