What do US soldiers, specifically the ones that have gone over there, think about the war in Iraq? Do you believe it's a misguided war like some say, or do you think it's on the right path? Veteran soldiers are also welcomed to comment.

  1. I did two tours, and I loved it. Tax free pay, baby!

  2. Um, oblivious like some people may be about the Army and military in general, we do have minds and do get input in certain situations.  If you dont hold the rank to do so then usually no we arent heard.  BUT on the War I  am very opinionated because I feel that we are done with it, half of us don't even understand the reasoning behind why we are still there but hey things happen for a reason.  By the way, it's IED, IUD is for birth control.

  3. Its a good time to catch up and pay bills.

  4. they don't get payed to think,

what they believe doesn't actually matter as a whole.

they get payed to carry out order in witch they are assigned.

i dated a guy in the army that just got back from iraq. the army gave him just about no help, and even left part of an IUD in his back. the only help he did get was a bunch of  drugs that they will refill no questions asked no matter how fast he goes through them.

he is now addicted to pills, and never had any drug problem before.

i have seen how other people stationed their through the army have gone completely crazy when they got back. its ridiculous.

personally i think our point was made and its time to get them home!!!!

  5. I will be deployed for the first time soon. i think the war on iraq is ridiculous. i don't believe we should have ever invaded and though we are doing much good for them as far as protection building and donations i do think we should remove ourselves and attack the real fckrs!!

  6. I have been to Iraq three times.  I am fifty fifty on the subject.  I was happy to deploy to Iraq, it is what I swore i would do, go wherever my country wanted me.  I have lost friends and made many friends while deployed, some of them being from Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar.  I believe, as a whole, we are doing the right thing, but feel as time goes on, too many people are using us (the soldiers) as political fodder.  We have accomplished amazing things there, helped the people there, yet we have trained them as a country and I feel it is time for the Iraqis to stand on their own.  We have held their hands far too long.  Now, Iraq has billions of dollars in surplus while we spend billions, that does not make sense to me.  I believe its time for Iraq to stand up, and we should let them try, we have other things to worry about.  But, as a soldier, if they need me to go back, than i say one more time to the sand box.

  7. I have a nephew who was a Command Sergeant Major with 26 years in the Army who retired because of the occupation of Iraq.

I'm a veteran of Vietnam, two tours, and I don't think we should have invaded Iraq.
