Evil is a word we hear a lot - describing all kinds of people and scenarios.

Yet sometimes, I think it's taken out of context.

What do YOU define as genuine evil?

Random acts? Premeditated?

Those with a justification to the perpetrator?

Things run by an individual, group, government?

Issues - such as a pre-emptive attack to save the aggressor/his people?

  1. I thought I could come up with a semi-definitive example of evil, but when I tried to put my ideas into words, they were inadequate.  As cheesy as it might sound, my definition of evil is the same as the government's definition of pornography:

I can't tell you what it is, but I know it when I see it.

  2. Animal cruelty!!

  3. 100% evil probably only exists in our imaginations. To find what  is genuine evil I will have to split a personality`s or a group`s actions up in parts. Hitler is considered one of the most evil persons ever lived, but even he had his soft moments. He loved his dog and once a butterfly flew into his room, he carefully took it and carried it outside.

What I would consider pure evil is a person`s certain act in a certain situation, like the moment where he/she deliberately and planned, consciously about what he/she is doing is evil, are torturing a child to death.

If a cat tortures a mouse to death it`s instinct, if you do it it`s evil.

But evil is relative and justifications has nothing to do with it. And what causes it is a different matter.

  4. Mosquitos! and Brussel Sprouts

  5. A woman who cheats , lies ,steals from you  , slanders your name.. tries to turn your child against  you .. and you never saw it coming. Then rather than admit she might be wrong .. puts all the blame on you.

  6. someone who looks for ways to take advantage of people, like sales people.

  7. I believe that evil is something so dark, sinister, and horrible in feeling, psychologically and physically, that humankind cannot compare to it.

Any and every twisted thing human beings have come up with, evil can supersede it by far and cause greater and unimaginable damage and pain. If humans were to pool all of their energy into the use of good, we could still not defeat evil.

    Only grace can do that.

Surreal and fantasy artist Wayne Barlowe has the best descriptions of pure evil in his books Barlowe's Inferno, Barlowe's Brushfire: Illuminations From The Inferno, and God's Demon.

  8. I know this may seem like a silly answer to a serious question, but I think my boss is genuinely evil!  No kidding!

  9. There are many types of evil in this world, being evil means to be immoral, depraved or wicked etc, but this may depend on our interpretation due to the society and culture we are raised in.

But to me true evil is someone who knowingly & repeatably abuses or takes advantage of others especially the disabled, children and animals with out remorse or guilt.

The person (he is not a man) in Austria who kept his daughter locked up for 24 years is the embodiment of evil.

  10. selfishness and indifference to the people around you..

  11. My opinion on this matter is different. I think that 'evil' doesn't describe things the same as most. In the bible, they use the word evil an awful lot, but I think it doesn't make sense. Evil can be used to describe whatever the user of the word wants it to be. If it's Satanism or if it's somebody at their school or someone in High School Musical. I personally think the real evil people are the ones that pin the word itself in someone or something of a different nature. Such as the many, many, super Christians saying that Marilyn Manson is evil because of his style of dress, or his behavior, or the things he says. I believe they just want an excuse to pick on someone who is different and represents something different. But overall I guess it is whatever someone says it is.  The official definition is morally wrong or bad; immoral; wicked: evil deeds; an evil life. Therefore, the user of the word decides what is evil based off of what they think.

  12. anyone who does anything to harm an Innocent/innocents intentionally.

  13. Evil is hate, its greedy, its I want what you got without working for it. Its opposite of Love and kindness. There is no Joy in it. No peace.

  14. someone without empathy for others
