What do YOU use to unclog your drain?

I've heard so many different things about certain products causing more harm than good, so I was wondering what I could use in my bathroom sink? Thanks!

if that doesn't work, i get my snake.  after all, it's her hair!

i never use chemicals.  for hair they never work and leave you with acid to play in.

bathroom drains get plugged with hair. if you dont want to take the pipes apartthen get liquid plumber. But wait until you are going to bed. then pour the stuff down the drain . in the morning try the drain.

I don't put anything harsh down my clogged drains. I'm on a septic system. Some harsh chemicals can destroy the bacteria in your septic tank and cause a heap of problems. I hate it when doo doo flows up hill... DON'T YOU?

I take our traps apart and clean them about once a year. You may want to get a strainer to keep long hair out of the sink drain. They are out there. Try running hot water more often in your sink instead of cold water. Cold water just makes soap stick to everything. Too funny... I only have to clean my wife's sink and her daughters. Hair is a big problem.

I used to date a plumber and he always told me to use Coke (the soda).  Pour some down the drain.  It's supposed to be better then anything you can buy.  It can eat though things, pour it down, then wait a big and run warm water.  I also heard backing soda and vinegar.. wait a few min then hot water.

Boiling water.  My bathroom sink drain gunks up with hair that's glued together with accumulated soap scum.  Boiling water clears that out nicely.

I use bleach, my local plumbers all disapprove of liquid drano and those sort of products. The reason is if you use those and then snake the drain you can bust through the pipes. Also those products eat away at your pipes, very bad news if one of the pipes busts and needs to be replaced.
