  1. in response to the post about steam boat and trains, steam cars would be extremely impracticle because of the amount od coal needed to het the water and turn it into steam. if you havent ever noticed, those big cars full of coal right behind the engine are to heat the water. the impracticality is also why there are no longer any steam engines being made.

  2. Not every likely. Although it is possible I don't think that enough support from where it is needed most (namely the oil companies) although it is possible. One this I thought of was using compressed air to drive down the piston, maybe even water. But both are unpractical, even if they did work. I heard rumor about a car engine that would run of air, but again just a rumor.

  3. As energy cannot be created or destroyed, for a vehicle you need a concentrated form of a material in a high energy state.

We burn fossil fuels - the energy was put in using sunlight.

Burning this in air produces heat. - Other things burn in air too - and this could be used instead. Hydrogen is ideal - as it only gives out water. Water contains Hydrogen, but it's locked onto oxygen. What we need is a highly reactive metal which would really like all that lovely oxygen!

If we go down the periodic table we find Aluminium. This highly reactive metal is THROWN AWAY in large quantities.

All you need is a catylist (sodium hydroxide) and you can turn any drinks can and pie dish into fuel FOR FREE ! by just adding water.

A few modifications are needed to make it safe - but google those who have tried it.

    Run your car on beercans!

  4. I was wondering the same thing.  We had steam boats and steam engines.. why not steam automobiles?  Someone who knows about this type of thing needs to invent it like immediately.  And God Bless them for doing it!

  5. Can't be done.  Look up the second law of thermodynamics to see why.

  6. It would be nice.....but don't forget that we are actually running low on our water supply......

  7. Fist of all you should proof read question before posting, this one took me a minute to understand.  Second IF the technology could be developed it would be wonderful.  The problem is that If you develop a fuel source that you can get from your kitchen sink, then A LOT of people stop buying gas, so there is no real money in developing the tech for a cooperation, and the little guy ( who would benefit ) does not have the capital to develop the tech.  Its a catch 22 for a Oil company to develop something that every one would love, but it would quickly put them out of buisness.

  8. Great!!

  9. Things are earth friendly,

but they wont change a thing.

    its scientifically proven.

just let me explain a little..

    1. Who says that this is the right temperature for the earth?

maybe its higher, maybe its lower.

    WE DONT KNOW THIS.

    Maybe one organism will die,

but another may reproduce into a new organism.

God has a plan, and that plan is going to happen,

    so why worry?

    2. Ethanol does DAMAGE to the economy.

All it does is use up all the corn so that families may not be able to afford to eat it.

My family hasnt eaten corn in about 2 years.

Global warming is making us all CRAZY.

    3. All scientists say the only 2% of 'Global Warming' is caused by humans and animals.

and half of that is just by us breathing in and out.

So if we would kill every single organism on the earth,

Global Warming STILL wouldnt be solved.

PEOPLE, WHY ARE WE WASTING OUR PRECIOUS TIME ON EARTH TRYING TO SOLVE THE UNSOLVABLE?

  10. how can you have a car run 100% off water?? no engine can just run"burn" H2O for fuel maybe the hydrogen in water but then you need some sort of initial energy to separate the hydrogen from the oxygen!!

if you have a hybrid gas/water or electric/water engine the energy required to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from the gas or electricity it would be more efficient to just run the whole car off of gas or electric!!!

but yes in france they do have a car that runs off air(not a rumor) well actually its not just "air" thats all around us its compressed air. the car has to be extremely lightweight for compressed air to run it(unfortunately here in the US people want their big strong trucks and suvs so a tiny compressed air aint gonna fly like it does in europe where most cars are compact size, and to US safety standards they thing probably wont pass crash tests)

one initial danger of a compressed air car would be the storage. placing compressed air in a metal canister can create a mini rocket(very dangerous) that can cause metal to fly off at an amazing rate in a car cash however they fixed that by making the cylinders of carbon fiber so in case of an accident the cylinder just split apart releasing the air.

just type in "air car" in youtube and watch the 1st video

  11. I tried running one on water, it wouldn't float.

  12. Well a man did make a car that ran off just water , and somehow mysterioulsy died while trying to get it legalized, if someone manages to get this idea out there.......the car would really be so cool, just pour water in and go :)

  13. It's a great idea and long overdue.  Thirty years ago a Philippine inventor modified his car to run on just water.  What a great invention.  I believe this is the solution to high gas prices and to be free of oil dependency.  Come on you young inventors - go for it!  We need it now more than ever.

  14. It will cost u double that to produce hydrogen to run a car on. To tell what u can do with a car look at the exhaust. U can see what the motor needs. It produces CO2 , that is normal. It produces CO which means u already have more fuel than oxidizer . To add more fuel like hydrogen is nothing as there is no oxidizer.

  15. yes i totally agree, this would be great aye.

  16. Trying to figure out your posting- spelling is a bit confusing. Diesel is 30+% efficient at getting use-full power out of fuel-- what is your proposed efficiency. Old steamers about 5% efficient, new turbines 15%, you need better than 30% and mobile to beat diesel -- how are you going to do it, Fuel cell from Hydrogen generator using water?  What would be the source energy for the generator- nuclear plants are not small, what is being used for some plants, nuke produced electricity used to break down water. Acetelyne generator using water to make a flamable gas going to piston engine - efficiency after couple steps down less than 10% not good for vehicle. How much would your proposed vehicle weigh?
