What do accountants do?

Do they travel a lot? Do they just sit in a bank/office and sort out accounts?

depends what kind of accountant your are - I'm a  commercial accountant and I mostly sit in an office and sort out stuff!  Practise accountants sit in offices and sort out business accounts.  Auditors get to travel a lot depending on where they work and the size of the company - and forensic accounting isn't as exciting as it sounds

I'm a chartered accountant and what I do mostly is company accounts and tax, a little auditing and Yahoo!Answers.

It's the more junior accountants who travel, mostly.  I just sit in my office and the clients come here

They can travel, it depends on what their contract includes.

And yeah I guess they do just sit in a office and sort out accounts - but if they work hard it's worth it.
