Well, I have a question for you:  What do the arts mean?  What does singing mean?  Or painting, or sculpture, or writing?

There is no way to describe an art in one word.  On the most basic level, martial arts are exactly what they say they are- they are the art of killing.

Every art is different, and every artist is different- there is no one way to describe a martial art.  They all evolve, and change constantly- and vary significantly from person to person, dojo to dojo, country to country.

A few common styles and my interperitations of how they work and what they are:

Tae Kwon Do- A very aerobic martial art, focusing on kicks (particularly high kicks), and fast punching.  Speed, flexibility, and dexterity.

Shotokan Karate- a 'tank' style- powerful punches and kicks, power comes from the core.  Strength and power.  

Boxing- Middle to powerful strikes aimed at the upper body and face.  A balance of speed and power.

Kung Fu- generally, though not exclusively, more acrobatic.  Conditioning, flow.  Many variations and styles.

That's not to say that Tae Kwon Do can't be powerful, or a shotokan practitioner can't have flow.  Also consider the elements- Earth, Water, Fire, Metal, Wood.  All people have more and less of certain elements, and all arts encourage various combinations of those.

In the end, a martial art 'means' what the martial artist means.

I think you mean Capoeira.  And it isn't dance fighting.  It's derived from an African martial art that slaves used to practice, but had to hide as dancing so the slave owners wouldn't know what they were doing.

But martial means warlike.

Therefore martial arts are different art forms or styles of combat.

There is not martial art called Cabrera, maybe you meant Capoeira.
