What do ants eat?

I've seen ants swarm over sweet things, and I've seen ants swarm over things like dead spiders, dead mice, snakes...

Just what DO ants eat, anyway.

My friend's sisters have an ant farm, or did until they moved. Well anyway they fed them fruit. I don't remember what fruit but I think it was peach slices.

Ants eat most things people eat too, regular foods like bread, cereal, crumbs, fruits, meat, and vegetables.

Dead animals, as you stated, also are eaten by ants, and some special types eat leaves too.
