What do any of the hockey players you don't respect now need to do to earn your respect?

Question

Would you start respecting any of the hockey players you don't like if they started beating up any of the cricket players and the regulars in the cricket section?

How about if they beat up sammy?

Beat up Sammy?? You won't get any respect for beating a poor defenseless peace loving hippie leftover type woman who wouldn't fight back.

I can't think of anyone who would not gain instant respect for returning the mug to Toronto. h**l, I'd nominate them for Prime Minister.

I have to say I respect almost every NHL player unless they did something really bad or stupid in which case I don't think I could forgive them unless they did the opposite of what made me lose my respect for them.

Ovechkin only because where I live (so close to the caps) everyone worships him like he's god and could solve all their problems. I can't go to one hockey rink in my pens jersey without being smart mouthed by some jerk in an OV jersey....

And some other guy who's name i don't remember, Jarkko Ruutu was tripped and was on the ice for like 2 seconds and the guy stomps on the back of his leg. That was terrible no class.

Seriously? It would take a lot for me to have real respect for the men mentioned above. I mean they would have to completely change their ways and maybe donate a lot of money to something that matters (....er, like my bank account! kidding, kidding)

The only player I disrespect is Chris Neil (despise is more of the word).  I would start to respect him if he found a cure to cancer, saved a bunch of children from a burning building, or something impressive like that.

I assume you meant ON the ice...so I will simply answer it this way:

I despise Darcy "******" too much...it isn't healthy for me...so if he all of a sudden wins the Lady Byng Trophy, I will partially accept him back into humanity. Otherwise, he's a scumbag for life.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned him but SEAN AVERY. I can't stand this guy. He has more than once made a mockery of the game. Chris Simon (the guy who stepped on rutu from an earlier poster) is also up there but he doesn't surpass avery cause i don't consider someone who maliciously tries to injure other players a true hockey player. Simon should be permanently suspended from the nhl. As for Sean Avery he would have to go AT LEAST a full year of showing respect for his fellow players and not pulling some bull sh*t like waving his hands in front of brodeurs face. And even then i wouldn't have much respect for him but i would respect his attempts to change and in time would gain respect for him. Also I would like to point out to pens boy that ovechkin lead the league in points, and goals last year. He crashes, he bangs, he hits, he scores, he got his nose broke against my habs and still came back to score the game winning goal (he had 4 that game) and is the most complete and dominant player in the game.

Most of the hockey players I don't respect are Rangers, and are therefore beyond hope.

I may one day forgive Scott Gomez and start respecting him again... but right now we Devils fans feel about him the way those bozo Red Sox fans feel about Roger Clemens.

There is no way that Ovechkin, as overrated or arrogant as he may be, does not reach 80 points this season.

i think Sabo needs to work on a lot of things... I understand he's a backup goalie, but i like knowing that my team is in good hands if god forbid fleury ever gets hurt. So i think for Mr. Dany Sabo to earn my respect, he should just quit being in the NHL.

Chris Chelios - when playing for Chicago, this hometown boy said he "hates Detroit and will never play there" on the Mike North tv show.  Liar. What could he do to gain my respect? Nothing.

I know your question is really about beating up cricket players, but I never miss a chance to dig up that old hatred.
