What do bus drivers keep pressing?

Has anyone ever wondered what the bus driver presses everytime someone with a travelcard gets on the bus?

The seem to have a happy finger and press that button like a thousand times. Can anyone tell me what they press as people get on with travel cards or oyster cards?

This is for UK btw.

  1. they are counting the number of pass holders that are travelling as well as the number of tickets issued  


  2. its called counting.  a counter...button with numbers..ask driver to show you...make a friend
