Question:

What do casinos do with Joker cards from their playing card decks?

I want to know what most of the major casinos do with all of the Joker cards they remove from their playing card decks. Clearly they must keep them because when they sell packs of used cards (the ones w/ the drilled hole), they usually include a set of Jokers.

  1. Magic tricks.

  2. they employ a special compant to mass produce them, so they dont come with jokers.

  3. They make them into I.D. cards for the employee's.

  4. Well it sounds like you've already got the answer.

Keep one thing in mind, a casino NEVER plays an old deck.  Most casinos plays 4, 5 or as many as 8 decks simultaneously at a blackjack table.  This discourages players from trying to "count cards".  You'll also notice, at the end of a hand, the old cards don't go back into the deck.  The old cards go through a slot in the table.  By only using the cards once, there's no possibility for a player to mark the cards.

When a new deck is opened, the empty pack and the jokers go under the table in the same bin the used cards end up in.

As you already know, these cards and packs end up getting resold to the public (with a hole through them so no one can try to sneak any back into the casino up their sleeves).  I guess the real question is... who's the loser who has to re-sort the cards, stick them in the machine that stamps the hole through them, and then sticks them back in the pack and puts shrink wrap on them?

    LOL
