What do catapillars eat?

We found about 15 caterpillars on our crab apple tree leaves. They are yellow and black. We would like to know how to take care of them. Thanks.

they get water from them

and then they cacoon in a few weeks or so

just give them healthy leaves, or put a living plant with leaves in wherever you're keeping them

they eat leaves ,if you have them in a cage you should put sticks in the cage, and you should cleen the cadgeevery once and awile

usually the same leaves that they were found on.  Cut the end of a brach and stand it in a little pot of water wil kitchen roll around the top so they don't fall in the water.

They will of course be happiest outside.  In captivity they may not survive.  I suggest keeping them a few days then releasing them.
