  1. Ok, so they look for:

    -game skills

    -how much you try

    -good attitude

    -smiles! :]

    -make new friends

-be willing to try new things the coaches tell you to do

    -have fun! ;]

    -height (in some situations)

-OVERHAND SERVING is one of the most important things

    -leadership

    -cheering on the other girls

-talking on the court (CALLING THE BALL & LOUD!!!)

    hope this helps :D

  2. i have played club volleyball for 5 years and at most tryouts the coaches look at height. they want you to look like you know what yo are doing and have a good attitude. You could try practicing by bumping to the same place on a wall repeatedly and do the same with setting.  You could also try to hit a ball so that it bounces off the ground and hits a certain spot on a wall. Coaches also look at how high you can jump

  3. Most of the time the coaches look for height. They also look for how well you serve the ball and of course do you score a lot of points, but that's not all. There are many different coaches in the world. Some of them might want you to serve well, some of them might want you to play good at the back (if you're short) or at the front (if your tall). Other coaches look for like how hard you try because most of the time if you play a tough team and you're loosing at the game they'll want you to do your best. The other thing the coaches look for is, if you listen to them or not, how well can you follow directions, and your discipline. I think that's all, I can't really think of anything else right now. If you ever played volleyball and you was a starter or you at least listened to what the coaches were telling you there will be no problem for you to get on the team.

    Good luck!

  4. you should show them that ur a leader and cheer everyone on...and be yourself!!! trust me i had volleyball tryouts to this week. another thing is relax and have fun!!!

  5. Coach-ability is a major part of it.  If they give you a tip or advice they want to see you make an adjustment and be able to correct yourself.  They look for leaders on the court.  People who are loud and call for the ball, people who are aggressive get noticed.   Height while is helps it isn't everything.  Coaches are going to look for a player who is well rounded in all aspects of the game serving, hitting, passing, setting. Drive is a large part of what coaches look for, they want to see that you really want to be on the court.  Just get your basics down, focus on carrying out your footwork and your platform while passing. Fundamentals are key. If your a hitter, show some versatility and prove that you can hit different spots on the court.  Also it helps if you can play more than one position, don't hesitate to try it if needed.

Just keep your attitude up on the court.  If you mess up on one play, get the next one or make up for it in some other aspect of the game.  So if you make a bad pass look to get the next kill or ace.  Just play to the best of your ability and i'm sure that you'll do fine.  Last year when I was 14 I had tried out for a 16's club team and made it even though i'm like average height.  The tips i'm giving you worked for me so hopefully they'll work for you too.

  6. Hey!

I have played club, but not for that long, but i have an idea of whent he coaches look for.

-One thing is talking on the court, like if it is yours, call it.

-Don't let the ball hit the floor! Try for every single ball.

    - Show your love and dedication to the sport, show up to try outs early, i know it sounds like you sucking up, but it shows that you wanna get out there and you wanna play.

    - Show that you eager, that is a good way to win the coachs over.

    - DO NOT! i repeate do not gof around, your there for one reason andone reason only, you wanna play the sport, your not there to goof around and shank the ball everywhere. I mean a bit of joking around is completly acceptable, but too much and the coaches are not impressed.

    - Help people out! If someone doesnt understand a cirten drill, help them out in understanding it. This will display leader ship skills.

    - Support everyone there. If they had a beautiful pass, let them know!

-Dont be too cockey, dont go in there acting like you own the place and your amazing at volleyball, let the coaches make that disision.

-SMILE! be happy! keep your spirits up! And that will get everyone eles's up! If you make a bad pass, dont let it bring you down! keep up the idea of, okay that was only one bad pass! oh well!

    SHAKE IT OFF= )

    - Dont bug the coach how you did or brag to them if you did this at summer camp.. that was then and this is now.

    - Play to the best of your ability!

    - Always have fun! and try hard!

Hope this helps! And good luck at the try outs = )

  7. be a great team mate

say good job! nice try! or nice hit! congratulate on your team mates... if they didnt do that well say its okay youll get it next time.

    be happy!

help people out when theyre not understanding the concept

basically be really good at a couple or few skills they throw at you.. passing, setting, hitting...

if you tried out for a highschool team its probably the same... i'm trying out for club this week too so i'll probably be going through the same thing as you.

if they have a website click on Faqs and they'll tell you what theyre looking for..

Also they really look at height which made me VERY unhappy... im 5'4 and i have a lot of vertical.. more than the other players so i played Middle in freshman year. Couple months later I tried out for club and they asked me what position i played and i told them but they said "no youre not a middle" straight forward. I asked her why and she says because im short. So she put me on libero. I was pissed at first but turns out i was just as good at libero and i was starter. Then this sophmore year i tried out for libero but they put me as an Outside hitter... i was pissed again lol and like before.. it turns out i was just as good at it as libero and middle and i was a starter for JV at all three games. So basically, dont be mad if they dont place you at the position you wanted, maybe you'll be better at it.

  8. really, all this about height is bull.

They dont really care what height you are as long as you are better then the tall people.

It will depend on what level of team you are trying out for.

    (regional or national)

Also skill, and time commitments will be different for each club.

If the club you are trying out for has a website i suggest you check it out.

Generally speaking, they are going to look for good players. But, they are also going to look for good teammates. They will look for players in each position that will work well with the players in the other positions.

They may pick a player that doesn't do as well, but is athletic, coachable, and seems to get along with people.

    so try your best.

    & good luck.
