hello,

I am a newbie copywriter, and I would really like to know what to charge. I looked at the writers market sight, and it tells me what to charge per hr, and project. But I want to know if that is reasonable, since I will be dealing with local business's. I am also wondering if it is ok to list my prices on my site, or will that scare people away? Thanks.

  1. Check out some of the freelance sites and see what others are charging but keep in mind that location plays a factor. the people overseas will work for next to nothing but there is a quality issue sometimes with writing that does not come from the country of origin i.e. Most people in the U.S. prefers writers from the U.S. because of proper spelling, grammar, etc.

guru.com and ifreelance.com are a couple of good sites to scan for projects and see what people are charging (and getting paid) big difference sometimes.

Just remember to be flexible. It's OK to list your rates but many freelancers will tell you the prices they list are very general prices and rarely are set-in-stone when it comes to bidding on projects.

Each client is unique and the price should reflect what the work demands.

    Hope this helps. Good Luck!
