Very close to wolves. Sometimes you cannot tell the difference.

kind of like a dog...its weird..i used to live in Tucson..and my sister lived in the foothills..every morning, and i mean early..you would hear them..it was cool tho

They howl like wolves, but is higher in pitch and they yelp ocassionally. They can also growl and whine like wolves do. Basically, it is an ordinary dog vocabulary, but neither wolves nor coyotes bark very often.
