What do do with my hamster cage floors?

i went and saved up some money and bought my hamster a new three story cage..its a wire cage so on the second and third floor there legs slip through the space in between the bars..its not hurting them but i would think it would get annoying..i cant go out and buy another cage for a while..has any one else had this problem??and does anyone have any solutions???

  1. put cardboard on those floors because your hamster can break his leg on those wire floors. it will get dirty so you should change it out whenever it gets dirty


  2. I would buy a large fish aquarium to put them in.  That way their feet won't slip through the bars.  

  3. you have the wrong kind of cage for your hamster. the best thing for your hamster is to buy a crittertrail cage, if you want a two or three story cage buy the crittertrail two, or three. Crittertrail is made specially for hamsters and meets all of their demands for a cage. the tubes, because hamsters are natural tunnelers and need something like tubes to roam around in.

    Wire floor DOES hurt hamsters feet. look it up.

    If you wont do whats best for your hamster and buy a better cage for him, then try gluing a few layers of newspaper to the wire floors. or maybe this cardboard.
