What do doctors most often prescribe for Social Anxiety Disorder?

  1. I take cymbalta, but sometimes on top of that I take zanax too....

Please, if you don't know how to spell the drug name, then don't even respond.  Xanax (Alprazolam is the generic), Klonopin (Clonazepam), and Ativan (Lorazepam) are all members of the benzodiazepine drug class.  They aren't usually the first line of treatment when it comes to anxiety attacks because benzodiazepines can cause the person to become dependent on them.  Doctors tend to prescribe other non-controlled medications first to see if they can help with the problem.  If not, then they might try one of the medications listed above.    

  3. usually they perscribe an anti depressent like zoloft or prozac for long term effects and some times the add xanax or ativn to take the edge off when you need it.

  4. I used to take Paxil, Lexpro, Remaron, Adavan all for social anxiety disorder. Adavan was for anxiety or stressful situations. Hope this helps!!
