  1. Paranoia:  A psychosis characterized by systematized delusions of persecution or grandeur usually without hallucinations.

Persecution:  To harass or punish in a manner designed to injure, grieve, or afflict; specifically: to cause to suffer because of belief.

Grandeur:  Impressive to the mind or spirit.

The doctor may prescribe a medication for your anxiety and/or paranoia. Once he/she discovers what is wrong, the doctor can give you something to relax you and help you feel more stable. Thinking about it constantly is not going to make it go away either. Until you get to see the doctor, try exercise like sports - make the body work instead of the mind working overtime. Keep your mind off your "sickness" and do something good for you.

  2. A good physician is not going to give you a strong & addictive benzodiazepine like Xanax right off the bat. However, the physican may prescribe an antidepressant to help you. Usually an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor). Something like Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, Zoloft, etc.  Good Luck!!!

  3. There are several medications that doctors prescribe for anxiety, one being Xanax.  Try to relax until the doctors appointment and then hopefully your doctor can do something for you.
