What do dreams mean most of the time?

Like for example i've had dreams about people that i've never seen before in my life but it actually be a real person in my dream and i'll wake up and be like ok i've never seen that person ever before.Does that mean anything or what?I've had dreams before where i would dream about someone and later see them later on.
