  1. well the short reply to that would be not a lot, BUT in effect they are home soil in a foreign country that SHOULD you need them they are meant to step in and aid you BUT the British Embassy in Europe is woefully short of that goal BUT the British embassy in the USA was without a doubt very very helpful to say the least, I think it all comes down to the people that work within them like every where else.

AND to all the people that have given a thumbs down PLEASE just wait till you need the British Embassy in Spain or France and then see just the level of assistance you get from them...basically in Spain they tell you there is NOTHING they can do other than call someone in England and get them to ensure they can pay for your flight home.........they would not even provide interpreter assistance for the hospital , so you want to hope that you DONT need them and think you are going to get all this wonderful assistance.

    Regards

  2. Embassies represents their governments overseas.  They convey their countries' policies to foreign governments and international organizations, negotiate agreements and treaties on issues ranging from trade to weaponry.  They coordinate and support international activities of other government agencies, host official visits, promote and assist their countries' business interests, protect their citizens abroad, accept and adjudicate requests for visas, and manage the allocation of resources for foreign relations.
