What do employers mean when they say 'We have appointed someone who's qualities were more suited to the job'?

  1. it means you didnt get it because you werent related to the owner. or didnt have the right cup size.

    they may or may not mean wat they sed...

    they just say it because it's a polit way of letting you no u're not hired...

  15. They basically mean that they have hired another person for the job that they feel is a better fit for the job. For example, if two people are applying for a job as a school teacher, and one has never taught before, and the other is an experienced teacher, they will most likely hire the experienced teacher because they have the qualities, or in this case skill, for the job.

  18. Basically what they say. However, many organisations are obliged to advertise positions to the general public, even though someone else has already been handpicked for the job.
