  1. they both speak english.. they both have the same queen... ummm

  2. Since most of Australia's population has an Anglo-Saxon background: a lot.

  3. Actually there is far more in common than there is different, Australian culture has derived largely from British culture, apart from NZ no other country is more similar to Australia than England. I think the most of the previous answers are a bit exaggerated.

  4. indifference towards americans?

  5. We are both surrounded by water !

  6. CRICKET!

    CRICKET!

    CRICKET!

    CRICKET!

  7. They both have the same head of state.

    They both speak english

They both play cricket and rugby.

They are both majority anglo saxon.

  8. The Monarchy for instanse we still have a Governer General,

that rules over Australia ....well indeed has some say. This is

going back from been ruled by the British.

Our English language , comes from the British and is the

first language spoken here, a lot of their Parliament and laws

are still part of what we have as a way of Governing Australia

On the non political side....Australia is still very influenced by

Music...a lot is British...but forced on the Australians by popular

and well paid Radio stations, from record companies.

Then there's the American popular music...which is more what

the people naturaly like....and so commercially we have some

of both....with a few Australian Artists in between.

And also the majority of people are Christian Religions....

  9. cricket too

  10. There's alot of poms in both countries :)

oops I couldn't help myself :) my partner is from England.

  11. Ozmaniac hit the nail right on the head.

  12. I think sport would be our main common factor. Our cricketing tests, Tri Nations Rugby League and scouting of Aussie talent, Rugby Union, etc..

We both obviously speak English but Australians have very strong slang.

Our populations are quite multicultural with large amounts of immigration.

We both have supposed reign by the queen which doesn't hold much power these days, but are more lead by our own Prime Ministers.

  13. Not much. Our sense of humour is similar: that's about it.

We still have the English queen forced upon us, but that won't be for much longer. We both speak English, but so do a lot of other countries.  Some may say that we both play cricket and Rugby League, but the way the Poms play is nothing like the Aussie way. England is one of yesterday's countries and Australia is one of tomorrow's. They look backward into their history - we look forward into the future. Their economy has had it - ours is booming and will continue to do so for many years to come. Our people are friendly and welcoming - the English think they're better than everyone else simply because they're the English. Our weather is fantastic - theirs is unspeakably bad and most of their 'beaches' don't even have sand! Their sportspeople are woeful - ours are great and we have a far smaller population to select from. Their cities are dirty and people live scrunched together - our cities are clean and we don't live cheek by jowl with everyone else.
