  1. cool i have been to Antarctica i worked science support at mcmurdo station the ones leaving from punta just hop on a ship for a 3 day h**l ride into the worst waters on the planet you can look up more about it here www.polar.org this is raytheons homepage it will link you

  2. Put an ice cube up their r****m to get used to the cold

  3. The only tradition I know in Punta Arenas, is kissing the Ona's foot. The Ona or Selk-nam, is a bronze statue of a native patagon in the main square (it is a Statue with Hernando the Magallanes on top). If you kiss the foot it, you'll come back to Punta Arenas.

Other traditions, specifically for explorers...? ....eat lots of king crab, lamb, eat calafate (a berry, also to come back), read Francisco Coloane's books about Cabo de Hornos, obtain an insurance....?

I can`t think of other traditions.

  4. I think there's a statue (of christ?) that they kiss the feet of.

it's supposed to ensure that they come back to the same place, safely.
