What do extreme cold, extreme hot and very sweet have in common that they all cause teeth pain?

  1. Your teeth have a protective layer (enamel)  that covers the sensitive part of the tooth.   When this layer becomes fragile,  or injured,  or ill,  as in a cavity,  the enamel can't protect as well,  and the extreme ranges of sweet,  hot,  & cold hurt the tooth since the protection has become thin.
