  1. It was the best idea of this century ..... I don't want to pay for boy racers or ignorant male drivers who refuse to give way at roundabouts. ;-)

Women did not make this a gender issue .....men did.

  2. It is all about risk and the numbers.  A 21 year old guy pays more than a 45 year old guy.  Just a matter of crunching the numbers.

  3. Same as I think of the fact men's haircuts and jeans are cheaper.

    It's the marketplace.

    Cheers :-)

  4. If you look a little closer at these insurers, you will see that they are owned by larger companies. The product is not cheaper, the marketing to women is just another way to get more money.

It is just the advertising that is different, nothing else.

  5. I use a broker to find me the cheapest deal.  So far that hasn't included a women only insurance company.

If we're given cheaper insurance it's because we're less likely to drive fast and crash. Simple really. The insurance companies are in business to make money.  If women crashed more regularly than men, it would be the men with cheaper deals. But it's not. So, fair's fair.  No big deal.

  6. They are only insurance brokerages, all owned or managed at the top by men.  They simply search for the cheapest rates for women from other actual insurance companies.  Women on Wheels, Cover Girl, Sheilas on Wheels and Girl Motor are some examples.  Sheilas on Wheels is part of a larger conglomerate of insurance companies, I believe.  It's just a marketing strategy aimed at women.  Women's insurance is already cheaper based on tight actuary stats relating to cost of claims per demographic group, which is how the male-dominated insurance business operates, charging premiums based on demographic grouping claim costs.  The insurance industry has always been that way, sorta profiling, long, long before the rise of women into legal protections for their rights, long, long before women were even allowed to drive.

  7. i want to see the statistics and the rates,

  8. Any true feminist would lobby against such bullcrap.  But, as we all know, women are hypocrite extraordinaires and only go against things that favor anyone who's not a woman.

Any far as any statistical data goes....  well, lucky women have good looking faces and b*****s enabling them to talk their way out of any sort of reportable offense when pulled over by an officer (statistically male).  Of course, there's no way the officer would report any evidence of such foolish behavior.

It's a living, breathing farce that nobody has done anything to stop.  Men, we really do have the power.  Just take a minute and think about it....  the action afterwards is quite clear...  as you are men and there's no need to tell you what you can easily figure out on your own.

There are few things in this world that should be women only.  Something like a shopping mall.

Then, we could create a male only shopping mall, which would be called something like "Meat, weapons, and technological emporium" and it would be the ultimate forum of purchasing in universal existence.

  9. Women's only services such as insurance are fine by me as ong as the underwriters are not giving cut price rates to those customers and jacking up premiums on another product of their business to offset this.  It is just like lame only clubs and so on.  If I have a business, I can market to whoever I choose, or I should be allowed to.

I cannot claim great insight into insurance, so I cannot explain why I think insurance to women is unfair.  I have been in 8 car accidents, none were my fault, and all had women at fault.  Seems silly that most of those women would probably pay lower premiums from me, assuming the same insurance details.

There are a few things where men pay a bit less, though in those cases I can see where the extra money goes for women: hair styling is an example.

  10. Boy racers arent usually insured with anyone.  Convicted drink-drivers should be denied insurance for 10 years.  Convicted mobile phone users whilst driving should also be denied.

Women should have cheaper insurance if their driving record supports it.

    'I should rule the world'?

  11. It is a feeble greedy policy aimed at gullible people that takes from them and gives them nothing, in any comparison they come off worse

And by the use of clever advertising are able to pull it off

lol, I laugh each time I see one of the Ad's, as i know what is going on

Its a kind of reverse feminist logic, used by men in the city to fleece women..

And feminist who should be looking out for women’s interests, stand by and let this happen, its pitiful…

This is the future, where Ad men and women will use feminist Bull-c**p to sell them anything!!

    edit

DRAMICO - above check the evidence, these insurances are no where cheaper, its a confidence trick, but you are right it should be looked into, but as you see women are not crying out, THEY think they are getting something that men aren't. lol

--(Do female-only insurers offer the best deals?

But do these female-friendly, pink-logoed, almost comic-book offerings from the usually dowdy world of insurance really provide the best value for money for the UK’s women drivers?

According to a price comparison survey carried out by Direct Excellence for Tesco Car Insurance, almost three quarters of women drivers get a better deal from mainstream motor insurers than most women-only specialists.

The survey of the cost of annual cover for 50 women drivers aged 18 to 60, found that in 72% of cases, it would be cheaper to ignore companies that specifically target women drivers. The difference could mean an average saving of £85 a year.--)

  12. Why aren't you complaining about these insurance carriers too?

    Why aren't you screaming "ageism"???

Considering that young men are responsible for the bulk of car accidents -  and the deadliest ones -  they pay more for insurance because they pose a greater RISK. This is supported by at least 40 years worth of statistical data.  The insurance company is in the business of making money, not doling it out, lol.  If the customer doesn't like the way the insurance company does business he or she is free to shop elsewhere.  Its the capitalist way!

  13. I think it is unfounded sexist discrimination.

The thing people forget to mention is that women cause and are involved in the vast majority of local accidents, and men are involved in or cause the vast majority of long distance crashes(well not so much anymore).

Because guess what? Women once upon a time drove local more and men drove long distance more.

That is starting to change now. Thus my home state of Pennsylvania outlawed sexism in auto insurance.

The notions that young male driver cause more accidents is foolish and a sign of a sexist *&^%$.

Growing up I have known of just as many of my male classmates as my female classmates get into accidents.

I think it has more to do with parental/family influence.

Friends whose parents were safe drivers rarely if never got into accidents.

Friends whose parents drove recklessly drove that way themselves.

  14. I have never heard of these, but it does seem unfair.  As for cheaper insurance for women, it is unfair as well.  A person's insurance level should be based on their own recklessness or lack there of.

  15. Insurance companies are about PROFIT, and their profit is reliant on policies that take RISK into consideration.

I live in an area that insurance companies deem as RISKY. I therefore have to pay higher premiums.

And strangely, I don't scream "LOCATIONISM!!!"

  16. There is one for Aussie women, and they are terrible!  They do a song and dance number in the convertable, no seat-belts on, sometimes even letting A KOALA BEAR drive the car.

    Shocking!

  17. As a feminist, I've always been put off by the way women-only car insurance companies market their insurance, so I've never been one of their customers.

But I understand why car insurance is cheaper for women.  If you look at all the car insurance claims in the last year and separate them into claims by male drivers and claims by female drivers, you will find that the men's claims are more expensive.

I think women actually have more accidents, but they're usually not expensive accidents.  A woman might back into a lamp post or bump another car while she's parking.  Sometimes the damage caused isn't much more than the policy's excess, so it can be settled without making a claim.

Men tend to have accidents at higher speeds and therefore the damage caused is more expensive.  They take more risks than women while passing other cars, driving around bends, or generally experimenting with the car's performance.

Basically, when women make mistakes in a car, they make stupid and embarrassing mistakes.  But when men make mistakes behind the wheel they tend to make dangerous and costly mistakes.

So the cheaper insurance for women isn't about discrimination but about the company's risk in offering the policy.

In fact, insurance for everyone would probably be cheaper if men were not allowed to drive until the age of 25 (before which they are at significantly increased risk of an accident caused by driving too fast).

  18. All types of insurance work by judging your risk based on your demographic. I live on a London estate where the risk of being burgled or having my car stolen or vandalised is several times that of the next postcode. So I have to pay much higher insurance for my flat and car. I would be a bit annoyed if I had to pay the same amount if I was living in an area that was never burgled. My mother is over 50 so she has her car insurance with a provider that caters only to older drivers. As they have to pay out less (because older drivers have less accidents) they are able to offer her a lower rate. The systems of insurance and risk management existed long before feminism. Yes, it is justifiable. Whether it's right or not, well find a better system that doesn't unfairly penalise people in a lower risk demographic.

  19. In all my years of riding motorcycles and the many hundreds of thousands of miles I covered, I was only ever knocked off twice.

Both times by women drivers, both times I was doing less than 30 mph, both times they were in the wrong. Oddly enough, both times they said "Oh, I was looking the other way" as they pulled out in front of me.

Now that the roads are saturated with 4x4s, piloted by women on the phone I feel it safer not to use two wheels.

As for the insurance for women being cheaper! Hah, I think there should be a premium loading for them.

I also think everyone should be re-tested every three years.

  20. I'm not a feminist per se, but I think that's a smart move on the company's behalf. Men may have better driving skills, but women are safer and less aggressive drivers and therefore insurance rates will be much lower. Those companies will earn alot of money.

  21. I am not a feminist, but doesn't the EU state that any sexual descrimination of any kind is illegal, making the women only insurers illegal?

Infact from personal experience, women do cause more accidents because they become distracted and do other things (I know this from personal experience)

Do not say "Zomg you are a man you are a boy racer and you don't want women to have x y and z, plus your evil" because I am not, I recently had my car written off because a woman was driving texting on her phone running a red right into the side of me, so I do not believe they are the safest drivers.

It isn't right, to have cheaper car insurance for women, as I believe it is descriminitive personally.

Give me thumbs down if you want, but its my opinion.

  22. I think it is justfiable since women as a group are statistically less likely to have an accident through careless driving.  It is for the same reason that over 50's have their own insurance brands as well.

It is not a case of being sexist, it is simply the insurance company identifying which groups in society they can afford to offer cheaper insurance to without a great loss to themselves, while at the same time giving the group in question a feeling of exclusivity.

  23. If only the cheaper part was true...statistically, women are the safer drivers, ROSPA in the UK, Transport ministry all acknowledge that, so it makes good business sense to appeal to women, but many of them are still too expensive...Sheila's Wheels quoted £200 more than my present insurer...oh! sorry was I supposed to go on a feminist rant!?

  24. It only makes sense that a womans insurance rate should be less than a man's. A man gets mad & loses his temper in real life, so imagine what he would do behind the wheel with road rage. With road rage, even the nicest of people go looney. So men who anger easily surely would!!
