Question:

What do fertilized danio eggs look like?

I have a breeding tank for my danios and I believe that they spawned. I don't know if they are fertilized though. They are clear except for a white spot in the center. I just found them this morning and I removed the adult danios.

What do they look like if they are fertilized?

What do they look like if they succumbed to fungus?

What's up with the eggs with a white center?

  1. Fertilized eggs look like you described! The white center is the baby fish developing! The eggs will look scruffy with white-ish clear fungus on it, and if you see one of these you need to remove it so it does not spread to the fertilized eggs. Once the babies hatch you can feed them baby brine shrimp or microworms. Microworms are much easyer to culture, so I use them. Good luck and congrats!

  2. If they've spawned, chances are they've been fertilized. They'll hatch in about 2 days and I wouldn't worry about fungus or the white center. What you'll need to worry about is the 300-500 babies you'll need to feed.

  3. Hi, They start off looking clear. Over the next few days you will begin to see a dark spot and they will become more of a grayish color. The dark spot is the eyes of the young fry before they hatch.

If the eggs succumb to fugus they will have tiny white or grayish hair comming from the egg. I would suggest you ad some methelen blue to the tank to keep them from fungusing over.

The white spot is most likly the yonk sack of the fry. A few days after they hatch they will loss that sack and begin eating tine live food like micro worms or baby brine shrimp.
