  1. He will come out of retirement in a year and probably fight Cotto in a mega-fight in which he'll make $40M or so.  It makes sense.

The man is 31 now, and burned out.  The coward stuff is BS.  If he beats Cotto in the future...then he will be afraid of Paul Williams and so on.  The point is he has beaten the guys of his generation.  There is no reason to fight a younger man for less money than an easy payday for an easy win like Hatton or a no-name big puncher like  Marg for $5M.  The land scape is full of boxers who cant even remember their own names after staying in the game too long.  Good for him.

  2. If its true. good!

I dont wanna see him get knockout by cotto , lol

    oh wait yes i do..

  3. Not really sure.  IF he really did retire, I do respect the way he did it.  He didnt come out in his letter claiming to be the best or going out the best, or anything of that nature.  And thats good.  He isn't the best, and he won't be a legend of the sport.  He is a great fighter, but did not fight a level of opponents that will cause him to be remembered in history.  I have respect for the way he retired and the reasons he gave, just as long as he stops kidding himself about the place he will have in boxing history (assuming he never has another fight)

  4. Its good in one sense he went out on top.  I just would have loved to have seen him fight a few more times, especially against these tough Welterweights that everyone keeps saying and are supposed to be all that.  If they were they would be itching to fight him.  He has proven himself by winning four Championships in four divisions and being undefeated before challenging Oscar Dela Hoya.  What have they done.

  5. kinda mad... i was looking forward to his rematch with De La Hoya.

  6. I think its a bit of relief because for the past two years Mayweather has been on the top of boxing and every time theyre was an emerging boxer in the welter weight division Paul Williams, Kermit Cintron, Andre Berto, Joshua Clottey, Carlos Quintana, Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto fight fans wanted to see Mayweather get in the ring with them and we would always have to settle for lesser fighters

Even after he moved up to 154 with the De La Hoya fight i excpected him to fight Hall of Fame fighters like Winky Wright and Sugar Shane Mosley instead he went back to 147 to fight a natuarl 140 pounder in Ricky Hatton and in the two yrs he was WBC he only made a mandatory defence of his belt. And even though Hatton was considered a title defence he had only fought 1 fight in the division and didnt deserve it.

So while its sad that we didnt get those fights im glad we can get back to seeing these fighters go at it to figure out who will be the top welter weight. I feel like everyone trying to go after Floyd because they wanted to prove they were pound for pound has probally delayed other fights and now we wont have to worry about that.

  7. I can't believe it. He has had a very good career. Why tarnish his legacy?

  8. I think Mayweather is pure quality. He fought the best of his generation at different weights never got beat up & made a shed load of money. People go on about Ali but look how he ended up is it worth it when your rich i don't think so.

So good on you Floyd a g8 end to a g8 career

  9. He has no heart, his goal is to make money and that's it.

  10. hes a ****** pusssieeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!! He Was Scared To Fight Cotto And Margarito !!!!!! **** EM !!

  11. I hope he fights one more fight Oscar De La Hoya and knocks him out
