i don't mind them, having quite a few friends who play hockey and played hockey myself. it's once they start to make fun of you and they think their superior to you when i really don't like them..

I figure skate and i don;t think anything of girl hockey players i mean your not intimidating or anything if thats what your asking.

i admire it shows they've got heart and dont care about what people have to say and it shows not all girls are lip gloss skirts that we're pretty tough too and that if boys can do it so can we

one of my best friends is a hockey player and she is training to go to the olympics in 2 years!! (she'll be 16 by then)

her whole family plays hockey and they even own their own rink. its pretty cool lol

Well, I have a former university classmate that used to d hockey though I have never actually seen her skate myself. I've always felt sad she never had any interest in figure ice skating, she has the perfect body for the sport. She's just a bit over 5 feet tall (just a hair taller than me) and can't weigh more than 100 pounds.

I've only seen two other female hockey skaters ever (hockey isn't that popular in Mexico in general I guess), one of them switched to figure skating though I think with her thick build she should have stayed in hockey and I've seen this other teenager girl taking classes at the local rink though I've never talked to her.

I really don't have anything negative to say about female hockey players though I'd never really want to play the sport myself. It's the male players that are rude when it's a public session crammed with people and they are all out there doing races going in the opposite direction and getting into the figure skating section knowing it's against the rules.

ive skated in hockey skate before, its hard, i have alot of respect for hockey player, being guys or girls. there are not many girl hockey players at my rink but we dont get into arguements or nething..

Figure skaters are not one person who have collective ideas. There are probably some figure skaters who think girls should only figure skate and boys should only play hockey, and some figure skaters who love hockey and wish they could do that instead.

I personally like figure skating better, but I think everyone is entitled to play the sport they want to play.

As a figure skater, I think it's pretty cool when girls/women play hockey.  I love hockey too and considered playing it myself, but didn't really have a team to play for at the time.  Unlike some figure skaters, I haven't really experienced many problems with girl hockey players, such as mocking and catty junk.  Working and skating at the rink, I had more problems with little hockey boys being just plain obnoxious!   The girls didn't seem to feel the need to mock the figure skaters like the boys did.  The girls pretty much kept to themselves.  I can see where the "rivalries" would come from, but I've known a few figure skaters that weren't exactly polite either, thus giving skaters a bad reputation.  Especially now that I'm older and have learned it takes more to get my body to do the things I did while skating as a kid, I give big "props" to women who are playing hockey -- especially the ones who are just learning!  :)

I am a figure sk8r  and I admire girls/women who play hockey because it's really hard to get along with a team. Well for me anyway. And they have to be pretty strong.
