me and my sis captued some house flies for fun and was wondering what they eat

  1. They do not eat , they suck fluids.


  2. Almost anything, but mainly decaying matter and excrements.

  3. Give them a piece of sugar or sugar solution or syrup.

  4. As indicated, house flies will "drink" any fluid containing nutrients from fresh f***s to sugar water.  If the substance is somewhat dry, they will regurgitate liquids from the stomach to dissolve the substance.  If you find an old calendar hanging in a bulding with fly access, they leave "fly specks" where they deposited fly stomach juice to absorb starch from the surface of the paper!  If a fly has visited fresh f***s and then land on your sandwich, they may leave f***s liquids on your food from their feet (location of their chemotactic hairs) as they taste the food!

    Biting flies have adaptations to slice open you skin and drink the blood from your capillaries in your skin!
